6.30 pm “Katha Vistaar” a dance and interactive session by Namita Bodaji and Odissi dancer Sandhya Manoj.
Katha is the story of Kaikeyi and Gandhari, the two much misunderstood characters of the two epics Ramayana and Mahabharata.
This collaborative dance production has been presented several times in the past by Bharatanatyam dancer Namita Bodaji and Odissi dancer Sandhya Manoj.
Katha Vistaar is a preview of the production showcasing some dance and also an interactive session with the audience exploring the lives and the actions of the two characters.
Namita Bodaji is a Bharatnayam dancer. She has received her training from Guru Vasant, Guru Kalaimamani Mahalingam Pillai, Smt Karunambal Pillai, Guru Kalaimamani Kalyansundaram of Sri Rajrajeshwari Bharatha Natya Kala Mandir
Namita has received the title of "Singar Mani" from the prestigious Sur Singar Samsad. Namita is also a yoga practitioner and a trained yoga teacher. She is one of the teachers on "Dance with Madhuri", Bollywood actress Madhuri Dixit Nene's Online Dance Academy..
Namita runs a non-profit organization called Samskara Academy that promotes Indian classical dance. Samskara organizes a dance festival every year called “Lakshita” that promotes Indian classical dance forms featuring different artistes every year.
Sandhya Manoj began dancing at the age of five under the guidance of Shree Parvathy Narayana Swamy from Kalamandalam. The training was focused on Bharatanatyam and Mohiniyattam.
Sandhya has performed extensively in Kuwait, Jeddah and Damam and in Kerala. She went to Kuala Lumpur and joined the Temple of Fine Arts and took up Bharathanatyam, Oddissi, Sangeetham and piano. She has also been learning Yoga and is directing and teaching in Malaysia.
